Studying Abroad
I just spoke some random thoughts and transcribed them.
Lately I’ve been wanting to go abroad, even though I haven’t really thought about the reason.
When I thought about it again, I started wondering why I want to go.
Originally I spent about five years overseas, and then I came back.
Now I’m attending a university in Japan, and again I find myself wanting to go abroad—an exchange program would be fine too.
When I rethink my motives, they aren’t really that deep.
Is it that going abroad is cool? I don’t really know the reason. Like, when I glance at things online, people who go abroad seem to be successful. Since I was actually able to change a lot myself, I wonder if it has a positive effect on you. Also, I can speak English to some extent, so I started thinking, what’s the point of staying in Japan? But if I think about it, I don’t really know what it means to stay in Japan, and you could also ask what it means to go abroad, so I really don’t get it.
On top of that, people say foreign universities are amazing—you can learn cutting-edge things. Some people say Japanese education is dead, but when I actually look into it, it doesn’t feel like that at all. There’s so much I don’t know.
I wonder what it is.
